A Message from the Spirit World

As a psychic medium, it’s my job to be the liaison between people on earth and people in the spirit world. I accept it wholeheartedly and I enjoy the positive energy that connects these two worlds. On Halloween Eve of 2008, a special message came through from the spirit world that also offered physical proof of the existence of that world.

The evening began with a special Halloween performance of my show entitled “Medium Night ~ An Evening of Spirit Communication”. During this show, I conduct gallery mediumship for the audience, which is similar to the styles of John Edward and John Holland, if you’ve ever witnessed their performances. I stand before the audience and begin by describing the person who is coming through from the spirit world and then I bring through their messages to their friends and loved ones in the crowd. It’s always a wonderful, uplifting experience for me when this happens because these messages come through with love, compassion and comfort.

On that evening, the show was purposely being held in an old building that was built in 1892. The energy was incredible as the spirits came in one after another with messages for the audience. Halfway through the show, a male spirit came through who showed me that he was hit with something heavy. I felt like his name began with a soft “G” or “J” sound and I announced these descriptions to the audience. A man seated next to me stated that he recently lost a friend to a tragic train accident. With this confirmation, the man in spirit directed me over to this man, who turned out to be Wayne Nye, a paranormal investigator and spirit photographer.

Wayne Nye’s nickname is “The Cemetery Guy” because of his work with genealogy research and the paranormal. As a local “ghost hunter”, he is a member of the Massachusetts Area Paranormal Society and investigates paranormal activity with them at various locales around New England. Spurred on by his interest in the paranormal, he also partakes in spirit photography, which is the practice of obtaining photographs that contain images of the spirit world. On this night, Wayne was about to receive a message from his recently deceased friend who also came through with physical proof of his afterlife visit.

The man’s name was Joseph Doherty and he was only forty one years old when he was struck by a train as he was taking his nightly walk near the tracks in Braintree, Massachusetts. The accident occurred on October 18, 2008 – twelve days before this mediumship event on the evening before Halloween.

As the man in spirit continued with his communication, I related to Wayne about how this man was in the wrong place at the wrong time. His death happened quickly and with great force, but he said that he didn’t feel a thing because of the suddenness of it all. His mother and another woman were there to greet him after the accident and to explain to him what happened. At first, he was shocked by it all and tried to communicate to his friends and loved ones that he was okay, but they couldn’t see or hear him. He was happy to be able to come through on this night and to talk to his friend at the mediumship show.

Joe continued speaking through me as he told Wayne that he would be appearing in one of Wayne’s spirit photographs. He said that it would be obvious because his image would appear in the lower right-hand corner of the photo and it would be different from the other photos that Wayne would take that day. With this message, Wayne turned white as a ghost and stated that he took a photograph that fit that description on that very day.

Earlier in the day, Wayne and his M.A.P.S. paranormal group were investigating the old building where the show was to be held later that night. In the upstairs hallway, he lit a candle and placed it in the center of the floor so that he could take some pictures. He stepped back from the candle, squatted down and was about to take a picture when a bright blue orb came zooming down the hallway toward him.

An orb is a common form that spirits will take in photographs and if anyone is lucky enough to see one in life, they often appear to be blue in color. I’ve experienced this before and it is quite amazing to behold.

When the blue orb came toward Wayne, it brought with it a gust of wind and he began to fall back from the surprise of it all. As he fell back, he snapped a picture and felt the orb as it flew by his right side. He developed the picture a short time later and was delighted that he was able to capture the image of the blue orb. What he didn’t know was that the orb was his friend Joe paying him a visit.

After the show that night, Wayne approached me with the picture that he had taken earlier in the day. There it was: the image that Joe had described so clearly. The orb was huge and it was located in the lower right-hand corner of the picture. Wayne confirmed that it was unlike any other picture that he had taken that day. He also added another bit of information during our discussion. His friend Joe had heard about my show and he had planned on buying tickets for that evening’s performance. Joe did, in fact, attend, but not in the original way that he anticipated.

We never know how those in spirit will get their messages across, but be sure that when they do, they will always find a way that is both comforting and amazing at the same time.

Superheroes and Psychics

As a psychic medium, I can't always control it when information comes through. Selective intuition isn't easy, so it is much to my family's chagrin when I give away the plot of a movie or ruin a joke by blurting out the punch line. This isn't something that I do deliberately, but I will admit that I thoroughly enjoy it when I turn out to be right. Thus was the case recently at the movies....

We all wanted to see "Hancock", the new Will Smith movie about the nonchalant superhero, so we decided to take an afternoon and spend it at the cinema. Now, my teenage daughter makes it a point not to sit next to me because she knows that at some point during the movie, usually early on, I'll whisper something in her ear that will give away the plot. My boys don't really care if I whisper to them, but they choose to sit together away from me, so they aren't always within whispering distance. My husband, on the other hand, enjoys sitting next to me and holding my hand. He also doesn't mind it when I whisper, as long as it isn't incessant - which it never is. During the first ten minutes of {ironically} "The Sixth Sense", I blurted out "I know the plot of the movie!" To which he responded "Well don't tell me!"

The movie "Hancock" captured our attention and kept us amused...and then it happened. About thirty minutes into the movie, I leaned over and whispered something intriguing about Charlize Theron's character that I received psychically. I don't think he believed me at first, but as the plot unfolded, he saw for himself that what I told him turned out to be true. After the movie, on our way back to the car, I shouted "I am the best psychic ever!" - which is something that I like to do when my family witnesses me having a successful psychic event in my personal life without even trying. Moments like that make me feel like a superhero!

I like to tease my children that I should be on the television show "Heroes" because of my "Psychic Superpower" {my humorous terminology}. We watch the show every week when it's on, but we still haven't seen me make any guest appearances. *SIGH* One day I will be discovered and asked to save the world. I just know it! The cheerleader had her chance.

When I was a child, I loved the show "The Six Million Dollar Man". I watched it religiously and even joined the fan club. Part of my ten year old brain knew that if I practiced enough, I could also run as fast as a car or jump as high as a building. I spent every day jumping over fences in the cow pasture behind our house and running up and down nearby hills. Each day I gave myself a new task to learn and I wouldn't move onto something new until I had mastered the previous assignment. I was, in essence, my own superhero! My friends and family will attest to the fact that I was an incredible athlete, but I never quite got as far as jumping over buildings or lifting trucks above my head. I guess I'll have to save that for another lifetime.

In this lifetime, I get to be "Psychic Girl" and save the world with my intuition! Okay, so it's not as glamorous as having super strength or even flying, but it does have its practical advantages. I can find lost things; know things before they are announced; tell people information about their future; talk to people after their physical death {my personal favorite} and so on. I guess the best thing about my "superpower" is that I use it to help people, which is all I ever really wanted to do. So, the next time someone shouts out "It's a bird! It's a plane!" - think of me and remember that superpowers come in all different shapes and sizes.

Interview With A Psychic

I recently conducted a telephone interview about my life as a psychic medium, which seems to be a very popular subject around the time of Halloween each year.

Q: As a psychic, what is your take on Halloween?
DC: Well, I’m actually a psychic medium, which means that I have all of those cool psychic gifts and I can also communicate with the spirit world and with animals.

Q: What is the difference between a psychic and a psychic medium?
DC: A psychic is someone who has different intuitive gifts, like clairvoyance (being able to see the unseen), clairaudience (being able to hear what others can’t) and so on. A medium is someone who can directly communicate with the spirit world, meaning people who have passed away, including animals, and other beings, such as angels and the like. All mediums are psychic, but not all psychics are mediums, which means that I have the best of both worlds.

Q: Okay, so you’re telling me that you can talk to angels?
DC: (Laughing) I know, it sounds odd, but it’s true. When I first started exploring my psychic medium gifts, other professional intuitives would tell me to call in Archangel Michael to protect me from negative spirits. I thought it sounded a little odd until I did it and he showed up! It was wild! Then I had this experience where I was cleansing my energy with some crystals and focusing on releasing all negativity and replacing it with positive energy. When I opened my eyes, there was this “being of light” kind of floating above me holding onto an urn. I nodded and said “hello” because I didn’t know what else to do. Then I kind of got the impression that I was supposed to tip my head forward. As I did, this “being” lifted up the urn and poured this incredible, sparkling light into the top of my head. When this happened, I could feel the most peaceful, relaxing feeling as this “liquid light” seeped all the way through my body. It was amazing!

Q: Do you think that was an angel?
DC: Well, I wasn’t sure what it was, but it did feel angelic in nature. I went online and asked a bunch of people if they had ever heard of this happening before and if they knew anything about this type of being. Someone told me to look it up in a book of angels – kind of like an angelic encyclopedia – that I could get at the bookstore. I started at the beginning of the book and read the descriptions about each angel, but nothing really matched what I saw. Finally, I got to the letter “U” – they were listed alphabetically – and there it was: Archangel Uriel. It said something like “Archangel Uriel goes around with an urn full of white light and pours it into situations where love is needed.” Since then, I see Uriel at work on a regular basis. It’s very cool, which is why I named my website and my business Angels of Dawn.

Q: Do you think you see angels because you’re religious?
DC: Not at all because I don’t practice any religion.

Q: None?
DC: None. A lot of people ask me that question, but to be honest, there is a big difference between religion and spirituality.

Q: How so?
DC: Well, you can be spiritual and enlightened without being involved in religion. Each religion has their own beliefs and their own rules and I haven’t really found any that fit my own personal needs.

Q: What about the Spiritualists? It seems like they would be perfect for you.
DC: I’ve actually attended one of their masses before and it was interesting, but I’m just not into any type of organized religion.

Q: Okay, so if that’s the case, do you believe in God?
DC: Of course! How could I do what I do without believing in any type of a higher being? I see things everyday that I can’t always explain, but I know that the spirits around me have good intentions and are doing everything that they can to help us out. Hey, life is tough! It’s nice to know that angels and our loved ones still look after us after they pass. I know that I can use all of the help that I can get!

Q: I know what you mean. Let’s change the subject, if you don’t mind. Have you always known that you were psychic?
DC: Psychic medium, please. Actually, you can just call me a medium. We like to throw in the psychic part so that people know that we do it all. There are many people who think that I only speak to the dead, so I want them to know that my gifts are so much more than that.

Q: Okay. Have you always known that you were a psychic medium?
DC: No, not really. When I was a kid I always just thought I was lucky because I was always in the right place at the right time.

Q: Did you have any premonitions as a child? Any precognitive dreams?
DC: Well, I can remember something that happened when I was about four years old. I was riding in a car with my mother and my brother when I got this horrible feeling that something bad was going to happen. I asked my mother to slow the car down, but she said that she wasn’t speeding, so she kept on going. A minute later, another car pulled out and slammed into the side of our car. No one was seriously hurt, just banged up a little, but that was the earliest that I can remember something psychic happening in my life.

Q: Did your mother listen to you after that?
DC: (Laughing) No, not really! Hey, I was just a kid. None of us knew that I had these intuitive gifts. Even as I got older I still didn’t really know about it. Even when I saw weird things I kind of chalked it up to a vivid imagination.

Q: What kind of weird things did you see?
DC: Well, when I was in junior high school, I can remember waking up in the middle of the night to see a ghost outside my window. I grew up in the country up in Maine, so it was probably a little spooky anyway with all the old farms and cornfields. When I woke up, I felt compelled to look out my bedroom window. As I looked down the street, I saw this misty, white fog floating perfectly down the street toward my house. The closer that it got, the clearer I could see that it was a lady wearing a flowing dress. When I saw her, I ducked down with just my eyes above the windowsill because I was afraid that she would see me. My eyes followed her as she just kept floating down the street and I watched her until she disappeared around the bend. I never told anyone about that until last year because I didn’t want anyone thinking that I was crazy. I guess I’ve come a long way since then!

Q: When did you realize that you had these psychic medium abilities?
DC: Weird stuff began happening to me when I was in my twenties. Like, I would think of a question and then I would see or hear the answer. It was weird. I went to a couple of psychic fairs with my friends and all of the psychics told me that I had “healing hands” and psychic gifts, but I didn’t believe them.

Q: What changed all of that?
DC: My paternal grandfather passed away when I was in my thirties and a couple of years later, he started showing up in my life – literally. I would see him from time to time and so would some of my friends who were mediums. At one point during this time, I went to a psychic fair charity event to support one of my friend’s charitable organizations. During this event, there was a huge hall filled with psychics and mediums. All of the tables were full except for this one woman. I walked over and sat in her chair. It turned out that she was a spirit artist, which is someone who is a medium and also sketches a picture of the spirit with whom they are speaking. She immediately started talking about my grandfather and how he’d been telling me the same thing over and over again, but that I didn’t want to do it. She spoke for fifteen minutes, sketching the entire time. When she was finished, she showed me the picture and it was a picture of my grandfather. I had it framed and it’s hanging near my desk.

Q: Did it scare you when you saw him?
DC: Not really because I grew up with him in Maine. He was really laid back and a typical outdoorsman. He also had his own plane that all of the grandchildren loved to take rides in. I wrote a poem for his funeral about watching him fly overhead.

Q: That’s sweet. What did he say to you when he would appear?
DC: He would say things like “you have this gift and now is the time that you need to start using it” and “you need to help people understand that they have nothing to fear”. Stuff like that. This went on for several months with me not wanting to do any of it. I mean, I had three children and I was working as a professional clown, so I wasn’t lining up to become a psychic any time soon.

Q: Wait a minute, you were a professional clown? Tell me about that.
DC: Well, I had been riding a unicycle since the age of nine and juggling since the age of fourteen. I also took private lessons from a French painter when I was a child, so I knew how to paint, which I utilized for face painting. I taught myself how to make animal balloons by reading a book. With all of that, I decided to become a part-time clown so that I could stay home and raise my children and also have a career. It was great!

Q: How long did your clowning career last?
DC: Fifteen years.

Q: Wow! That’s a long time. Did you regret leaving it behind?
DC: On some levels I did, but when the psychic medium stuff kicked in, it was like starting a new adventure.

Q: When did the psychic medium stuff kick in?
DC: In October of 2004, after having my grandfather “haunt” me (laughing) for several months, a friend of mine called me up to ask if I could do a favor for her. She was working as a psychic medium and had been hired by Johnson & Wales University in Providence to conduct readings during their Homecoming weekend. They had requested two psychics for the night, but she couldn’t find anyone to work with her because of some big psychic event in Connecticut on that same weekend. So, she used her psychic abilities and kept getting that she should call me to help her out. When she called, I heard myself agreeing to her request, kind of like an out of body experience. After I hung up the phone, I started freaking out because she expected me to do five minute psychic readings for four straight hours!

Q: How did it go?
DC: Well, my husband calmed me down and told me that everything would be fine. My friend called me back and said that I could always do astrology readings if I wanted to since I was an amateur astrologer. That eased my mind quite a bit, so I brought a stack of astrology books with me to the college. When the first person sat down in front of me, I started seeing things and just knowing things. It was unbelievable! Those four hours went by in no time at all.

Q: That’s really incredible.
DC: You want to know something even more incredible? Okay, all of the psychics that were supposed to go to Connecticut that same weekend were given the wrong dates. It was the following weekend, which means that anyone could have helped out at the university for Homecoming weekend. That just shows you how those in the spirit world can manipulate our world to get us to do the important things that we were meant to do.

Q: What a great story. You must have many interesting stories being in your line of work.
DC: Yeah, lots!

Q: Care to enlighten us?
DC: I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Wait! I’ve seen some famous people in spirit who have passed away.

Q: Like who?
DC: I’ve seen John Denver, Edgar Cayce, Mattie Stepanek and Dudley Moore. Dudley’s been coming around since last Christmas to help me with some projects that I’ve been working on. One time I could have sworn that George Harrison came through because I could hear him talking, but I wasn’t really paying attention, so I don’t count it as an official visit. A lot of times people in spirit will visit me, but I’m not always paying attention because I’ve learned to kind of turn it on and off. Otherwise I think I’d lose my mind!

Q: How can you tell who is who?
DC: I can see them, hear them and usually when someone comes in, I’ll receive a fleeting thought about them or it will be a barrage of thoughts – kind of like someone knocking on the door of my mind. Then I’ll get “vibrations” on my shoulders or down my right leg. It kind of feels like when your foot falls asleep and you get that pins and needles feeling. It only lasts for a few seconds. When I get those feelings, it’s like they’re “zapping” my energy to get my attention. That’s the best way that I can explain it.

Q: Do you have any famous clients that are still living?
DC: (Laughing) Yes, but my client list is confidential. Sorry.

Q: Anyone that I would know?
DC: Yes, but I’m not going to tell you. If I went around spewing out who my clients were, they wouldn’t be my clients for very much longer.

Q: Fascinating stuff, for sure. Is there anything else that you would like to add before we finish?
DC: I just want people to know that love is all around them. I feel it every day coming from the spirit world because they want us to be happy and full of love. There is no reason for fear. None. Also, I want people to be careful about the psychics and mediums that they visit because there are a lot of charlatans out there. Please be careful and use your logic. I always tell people that they don’t need to pay someone a thousand dollars to light some kind of magical candle. It just doesn’t work that way. That spell stuff doesn’t work and isn’t real, so please don’t be taken by it. Use your own natural intuition to figure out what’s best for you and if you decide to get a reading from someone, check them out first. If you have your doubts, then don’t do it.

Q: I’ve never heard a psychic – sorry, a psychic medium tell anyone to stay away. Don’t you think that will hurt your business?
DC: I’m not worried about my business. If people need the type of guidance and insight that I provide, then I’m sure they’ll find their way to me. It’s not for everyone and I respect that. The world is changing and my line of work is becoming more mainstream, little by little. Oh, and one more thing: I’ll be appearing on Comcast OnDemand later this year. They have a new show called “Real Psychics” on their Paranormal TV channel. It’s free to Comcast subscribers. They also have a website, but I don’t think it’s up and running yet. I’ll be featured on a month of “Real Psychics” mini-episodes. I’ll also be doing some radio shows between now and the end of the year.

Q: Sounds good. Are you doing anything special on Halloween?
DC: Halloween is a family holiday in our house, so I don’t usually work on that night unless someone makes me an offer that I can’t refuse. I’ve actually been hired to conduct readings at an office building in the afternoon for their employees. After that, it’s candy, costumes and fun! Here’s a little secret: I’m not really into all of the horror stuff that surrounds this holiday. I like the happy pumpkins and the kids in their costumes carrying their bags of candy. I’ve already put together a huge bucket full of twelve different kinds of candy. I love this time of year and I wish everyone out there a safe and happy Halloween!
